There’s something about chicken nuggets that just makes everyone happy. Kids love them. Adults secretly love them too. And honestly, they’re one of those comfort foods that never go out of style.
But instead of ordering frozen nuggets or deep frying them, I started making these Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets at home — and they turned out even better. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and made with simple ingredients you can actually pronounce.
The best part? Very little oil and no greasy mess.

-
½ teaspoon black pepper
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1 teaspoon paprika

1–2 tablespoons olive oil spray
Simple pantry staples — nothing complicated.
How to Make Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets
1. Cut the Chicken
Cut chicken breasts into bite-sized nugget pieces. Try to keep them similar in size so they cook evenly.
2. Season
In a bowl, mix the chicken pieces with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss well.
3. Prepare Breading Station
You’ll need three bowls:
-
Flour
-
Beaten eggs
-
Breadcrumbs
Dip each chicken piece:
-
First in flour
-
Then in egg
-
Finally coat with breadcrumbs
Press lightly so the coating sticks well.
4. Air Fry
Preheat your air fryer to 190°C (375°F).
Place nuggets in a single layer in the basket. Don’t overcrowd — cook in batches if needed.
Lightly spray the tops with olive oil spray.
Air fry for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and fully cooked.
They should be crispy outside and juicy inside.
Tips for Extra Crispy Nuggets
-
Use panko breadcrumbs instead of regular breadcrumbs.
-
Spray a light layer of oil before cooking.
-
Flip halfway for even browning.
-
Don’t stack the nuggets in the basket.
Dipping Sauce Ideas
Chicken nuggets are all about the dip, right?
-
Classic ketchup
-
Honey mustard
-
Garlic mayo
-
BBQ sauce
-
Spicy sriracha mayo
You can even mix yogurt + garlic + lemon for a lighter option.
How to Store & Reheat
-
Store leftovers in airtight container (up to 3 days).
-
Reheat in air fryer at 180°C for 3–4 minutes.
-
Avoid microwaving — they lose crispiness.
You can also freeze uncooked breaded nuggets and air fry directly from frozen (add 2–3 extra minutes).
